The Office of Mayor Sheila Dixon and the City of Baltimore have announced that they will proclaim this Saturday, January 30th, 2010 as “Charm City Roller Girls” Day in Baltimore!
“We are absolutely thrilled and honored to receive this award and declaration from the City,” says Tara “Cindy Lop-Her” Gebhardt, Spokeswoman for Charm City Roller Girls. “We started the league five years ago with a few girls meeting in a living room, sharing ideas and dreams for a league of our own. Itʼs grown exponentially thanks to the hard work and dedication of the many skaters, sponsors and volunteers who have helped build this sport and organization over the years.”
Ian Brennan, of the Mayorʼs Office, says the league is being recognized because,”Charm City Roller Girlsʼ bouts are a reflection of Baltimoreʼs dynamic spirit and vibrant culture.”
There will be a short awards presentation before the first game at Saturday’s Season Opener.
The Charm City Roller Girls play at DuBurns Arena, 1301 S. Ellwood Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21224. Doors open at 6:00pm and the first bout starts at 6:30pm. General admission tickets are $10, kids under 12 are $5, and VIP tickets are $20. VIP guests receive goodie bags, enjoy their own lounge, extended bar selection, private restrooms and trackside seating. Purchase tickets at the door or online at http://www.missiontix.com/
